It’s just over two months until the end of the public school year, and some high school seniors in Montgomery County are busy applying for college scholarships.
The application deadline has passed for some scholarships, but many are still open. Among them is a $500.00 scholarship from the FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, awarded to an East or West Montgomery High School graduate with a minimum 3.0 grade point average who plans to pursue a career in health care.
The Signet Classics Student Scholarship will award $1,000.00 in an essay contest centered on George Orwell’s “1984”, and the North Carolina Society of Accountants will grant $600.00 to a student planning a career in accounting.
A number of other scholarships still open offer specific opportunities for a variety of students, including those who have a spinal cord injury, those interested in the strawberry industry, and those with equestrian experience.
A complete list of available scholarships is available from the Guidance Counselors at both high schools or by phone at 910-576-6511.
