Board of Elections Meeting Moved to Dec. 22

The North Carolina State Board of Elections will take up the issue of Mount Gilead voter protests when it convenes Thu., Dec. 22, in Raleigh.

The board will review the protests, which were filed one week after the Nov. 8 municipal elections and claim irregularities that improperly denied the right to vote to a dozen voters, include several members of the family of Dorseph Lilly, Jr. Testimony already received by the Montgomery County Board of Elections cites improper record-keeping and alleges bias on the part of town officials.

WMTG will be in Raleigh Thursday and will report from the hearing as soon as there are developments.
