Morrow Mountain State Park has announced plans to close its equestrian trails for several months this year to allow for rehabilitation of hazardous trail sections.
The park will also implement an inclement weather closure system for its 16-mile equestrian trail network upon completion of the project, according to the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.
Because they are unstable and cannot be properly maintained, three sections of bridle trail totaling nearly two miles will be rerouted. Another 0.87 miles of trail will be added.
Construction may begin as early as mid-February.
