The perpetrator of a workplace shooting Friday morning in Star has died, and some of the victims have been identified.
Montgomery County Sheriff Dempsey Owens told WFMY News 2 that 50-year-old Ronald Dean Davis shot four co-workers at McBride Lumber Company, killing three before turning the gun on himself. Davis died Saturday morning at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Also dead are Davis’ cousin, Daniel Thomas Davis, 32, and Jose Galdino Lopez Izquierdo, age 25, of Asheboro. The name of the third person killed has not been released.
The surviving victim, 21-year-old Florentino Tellez Aparicio of Candor, continues to receive treatment in Chapel Hill.
