Mount Gilead Man in Log Truck Wreck

A Mount Gilead man received minor injuries in a wreck that totaled two vehicles early yesterday morning.

Rex Parnell was driving a log truck owned by Jimmie Byrd when a driver pulled out in front of him in heavy fog. The accident happened around 5:30 AM Monday on N.C. Highway 211 east of Candor, near Ben’s Ice Cream in Moore County.

The log truck and the car were both total losses, and the drivers were transported to First Health Moore Regional Hospital. Reports indicate that Parnell had only minor scrapes and bruises. The condition of the other driver was not available, but the injuries were not described as life-threatening.
