Mount Gilead Town Commissioners met last night.
It was a short meeting, as Earl Poplin finished his term as Mayor early in the agenda, then took a brief recess before Patty Almond was sworn in as the town’s newest Mayor. The oath of office was administered by Montgomery County Clerk of Superior Court Wayne Wooten.
Almond spoke last night about her vision for the town.
This is the first time in Mount Gilead’s 111-year history that the town has had a woman as Mayor.
We’ll have a full rebroadcast of the Mayor’s talk in a public affairs program this Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. and again Sunday night at 9:00 p.m.
