Assault Charges Uncertain for East Middle Teacher

It is still not known if an East Montgomery Middle School teacher will face assault charges in the wake of an incident involving a student.

One week ago today, the teacher is said to have asked a 13-year-old boy to explain the game of dodgeball to his gym class. According to reports, the teacher repeatedly told the student to stop “stuttering and mumbling”, then picked up a dodgeball and hit the boy in the back of the head, causing what was described as a “slight concussion”. The 29-year-old teacher, whose identity was not made available, resigned Monday, and the student is back at school.
