Mount Gilead’s elected officials and administrative staff will meet Monday, February 18, with a representative from the North Carolina League of Municipalities. The meeting with Rob Shepherd is intended to clarify the roles and authorities of the mayor, commissioners, town staff and attorney.
Shepherd said earlier he sees the meeting as “an opportunity to share information…based on…good operating principles and to encourage and foster good relationships between…municipal elected official and appointed staff to do the jobs (each has) been elected or appointed to do”, which he says “is to serve (the) community and to provide the best possible government for…citizens and businesses”.
Monday night’s meeting is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Gilead Library, and it is open to the public. WMTG plans to air a full rebroadcast of the meeting Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m., and again Sunday, February 24, at 9:00 p.m.
