Mount Gilead’s elected officials and administrative staff this week learned more about the ins and outs of the manager-council form of local government.
Rob Shepherd of the North Carolina League of Municipalities facilitated the session Tuesday night. His presentation highlighted the typical roles of the mayor, commissioners, manager and clerk in towns like Mount Gilead that employ a town manager, and he also reviewed for the group the state statutes that specify the manager’s authority.
The hour-long session provided a good deal of information for the town officials and also for local residents who attended. The entire presentation can be heard in a rebroadcast this Sunday night at 9, here on WMTG.
