Aberdeen Car Dealer Arrested

An Aberdeen car dealer was arrested yesterday and charged with more than 150 crimes in connection with sales at his business.

Steve Jones is the owner of a popular Honda dealership on U.S. Hwy. 15-501. Media reports say the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles has charged the 55-year-old Jones with 83 felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and 77 misdemeanor courts of temporary marker violations and failure to deliver a vehicle title.

The DMV made the arrest and told reporters Jones sold vehicles before he had a title or before they had been paid for. The criminal charges are connected to sales that date back about 10 months, and the DMV says as many as 300 car sales may be involved. The department would like to hear from any customers who have had a questionable transaction with Steve Jones Honda.
