An interesting story today out of Alamance County, where city council members in Mebane will vote tonight on removing fluoride from the town’s public drinking water.
Mebane shares a water supply with the town of Graham, which has already voted in favor of eliminating the supplement. Reports say Graham’s public officials want to remove the fluoride because of possible links to bone cancer and intestinal problems.
As they have for decades, dentists say the addition of fluoride in the drinking water is an important part of fighting tooth decay in the general population.
