Some area musicians are getting set for a weekend tribute to late musician John Denver. The group is called “Carolina Town”, and the trio has put together a program entitled “An Evening with John Denver”.
Denver was a popular folk musician who had much success in the 1970s and 80s. His career spanned four decades before his untimely death in an airplane crash in 1997.
A release from the Carolina Town band says this weekend’s program will feature more than 20 songs, including major hits like “Annie’s Song”, “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, “Rocky Mountain High”, and “Sunshine on My Shoulders”. The band will also perform one song Denver recorded but never got to perform live, and another song the musician wrote and never got to record.
“An Evening with John Denver” is set for Sat., Mar. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Ansonia Theater, 110 S. Rutherford St., in downtown Wadesboro. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., and advance tickets and more information are available at 704-694-4950.
