On Friday night, downtown businesses hosted a “spring fling” event, with music, food and entertainment. Cameron and Boone McAulay, Al Kee and others played music at Brown’s Hardware, and lots of folks got their first look at the new location of Mount Gilead Florist, which also had a ribbon cutting at 10:00 a.m. on Sat., Apr. 13.

A community “fun day” was held Saturday at the walking track on W. Allenton St. The free event featured an inflatable amusement for kids, free food and drinks, a drum line, and race cars and emergency vehicles on display.

Later that night, a gospel music festival was staged in the Levin Auditorium. Local artist Shawn Dykes organized the event, which featured his own “Spirit of Praise” group, Anthony Douglas & Zeal, and others.

Sounds like fun for all. I wonder if the musicians pictured might be interested in playing a gig at the Farmers’ Market in Troy this season – if so, have them contact me!
