A Mount Gilead man remains in custody following his arrest last week on drug charges.
28-year-old Richard Lee Greene was arrested Wed., Apr. 10, at his home at 328 E. Allenton St. during what Mount Gilead Police Chief Cleve Willoughby called a “knock-and-talk” conducted by his department and officers from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
Willoughby said that, during the visit, Greene gave his consent for a search of his residence and surrounding property. Officers say their search yielded 4.93 lbs. of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of a little more than $176,000.00.
Greene was charged with two crimes: Possession With Intent to Sell and Distribute Schedule II Narcotics, and Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of the Sale and Distribution of a Controlled Substance. As of this morning, he remained in the Montgomery County Jail under a $150,000.00 bond.
According to public tax records, Greene’s home is a rental property owned by WildMac, Inc. of Mount Gilead.
