FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital is seeking volunteers to assist as greeters to visitors and incoming patients.
The hospital says it needs people to work various shifts as main entrance greeters, outpatient greeters, and in the FirstCares Program. Shifts are generally three to four hours long, one or two days a week.
According to FirstHealth, volunteers augment patient and visitor services, supplementing the activities of the paid staff by relieving employees of duties not requiring professional training.
A hospital spokesperson said, “As volunteers participate in and observe activities, they have a greater appreciation of how the department functions in the health care process, the priority of patient needs and an understanding of the volunteer role. Once volunteers make a commitment to the department or service, continuity of service and development of trust and dependence between staff and volunteers is mutually gratifying.”
