The Fidelity Bank branch in Ramseur was robbed at about 9:25 a.m., and, at last check, local authorities had obtained an arrest warrant for a man suspected to committing the crime.

Ramseur Police Chief Larry Lewallen told the Courier-Tribune the suspect “may have been a resident at one time.”

The robber was said to have fled on foot, leading to a lockdown at nearby schools.

At the time of the robbery, five bank employees were working at the branch, which remained closed the rest of the day.

The FBI is assisting Ramseur Police in the investigation.
