Boil Water Advisory for Northeast Montgomery County

Water customers in the northeastern corner of Montgomery County have received a boil water advisory, effective until further notice. A contractor working in the area cut a water line yesterday, and county utilities crews responded to repair the line.

Montgomery County Public Utilities Director Chris Hildreth said the specific area affected is north of the elevated water tank at Steeds, and customers in that area were advised to boil all water for human consumption until tests assure the water is safe. The advisory is a standard precautionary measure, taken because system outages and periods of low pressure increase the potential for back-siphoning and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.

The county Utilities Department will use reverse 911 phone calls to alert customers when the advisory is lifted. Updates are available on the county website at http://www.montgomerycountync.com.
