World-renowned artists in ceramics, glass and metal will participate, demonstrate, lecture and create sculptures to be installed at STARworks. Estonian artist Anne Pärtna and her colleagues are working on a six-foot ceramic sculpture called “Firebird”, which will be fired Saturday night and uncovered while it is still red hot.

Workshops include glass fusing, blacksmithing and ceramic sculpture. Some are offered for all ages and skill levels, including those with no experience. Other participating artists include Hitomi Shibata, Susan Yates, Adam Wiley and Mark Hewitt.

Live music includes hard rock band 15 Minute Freakshow of Southern Pines and Carolina Gator Gumbo, a Cajun music band from Charlotte.

FireFest is presented by STARworks, which is a project of the non-profit Central Park NC. More information and event volunteer opportunities are available at 910-428-9001 and http://www.centralparknc.org.
