Memorial Day Programs Set in Mount Gilead, Troy

Two nearby Memorial Day programs and the dedication of a new monument are set for this weekend.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10940 and American Legion Post 92 will host the Mount Gilead observance Sat., May 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the veterans memorial beside the library on W. Allenton St. The ceremony will feature guest speakers, special music and a reading of the names of those lost in service to the country.

The entire program will be rebroadcast Sun., May 26, at 7:30 a.m. on WMTG.

Another ceremony will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on the lawn of the courthouse in Troy. It is sponsored by the Montgomery County Veterans Council, and former U.S. Congressman Larry Kissell and others will speak at the event.

The Town of Biscoe will dedicate a veterans monument at Deaton-Monroe Park on Mill St. Sat., May 25, at approximately 11:15 a.m.
