A few brief local updates from WMTG…
– An update to a story we told you last Wednesday… 33-year-old Mandy Smith of Pinehurst was reportedly found safe later in the week. Smith had been missing for about two weeks and was said to have been located in the Spring Lake area. No further details were available, and a post on a Facebook page devoted to finding the woman asked that the family’s privacy be respected. That Facebook page is no longer available.
– Today marks the end of the academic year for students in Montgomery County Public Schools. Eighth Grade promotion ceremonies are part of the short day. Seniors at West and East Montgomery High Schools graduated Friday night and Saturday morning, respectively.
– A community Vacation Bible School starts tonight at Highland Community Center, off Julius Chambers Ave. in Mount Gilead. It’s the ninth year for the event, and everyone is invited. The Vacation Bible School runs from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. each evening tonight through Friday at Highland, and transportation is available by calling 704-475-5597.
– Mount Gilead Town Commissioners will meet tomorrow night. It’s the regular monthly meeting, and it will start Tue., Jun. 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Gilead Public Library on W. Allenton St.
