This Saturday, 18 local agricultural operations will welcome visitors on the annual Sandhills Farm Tour.
The event is organized by the Cooperative Extensions in Montgomery, Anson, Richmond and Moore Counties and local farmers as a way to educate “non-farmers” and to build relationships with potential consumers of locally grown vegetables and meats.
The tour will start Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Sandhills Research Station at Windblow. Planners have divided the day into two parts to facilitate a better flow for visiting all the participating farms.
The morning session will start with a hayride, sausage biscuits and coffee at Sandhills, and the afternoon portion of the tour will begin at the Star Heritage Center with local hamburgers and Celtic music from Wil McCanless.
Many of the farms will have products for sale, and some will also have special activities for kids. Tickets and more information about the Sandhills Farm Tour are available on the Cooperative Extension website or by phone at 910-576-6011.
