According to police reports, Reggie Patterson of N. Pine St. was arguing with Jeremy McBride when McBride shot Patterson once in the face.

Sgt. Joseph Callicutt of the Mount Gilead Police says the bullet entered Patterson’s left eye socket, but traveled downward and did not cause as much injury as it could have. Information received by WMTG indicates that Patterson remains in the hospital, though his condition was not immediately available.

Details gathered by authorities indicate the incident started when Patterson told McBride not to litter in his mother’s yard. McBride was said to have then intentionally thrown some beer into the yard, after which Patterson reportedly pulled a knife. Police reports allege that McBride then got a revolver from his car and shot Patterson once. The weapon was not recovered.

Jeremy McBride is charged with attempted first-degree murder and is currently in the Montgomery County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
