Volunteers Work to Clean Up Storm Damage at Morrow Mountain

Morrow Mountain State Park remains closed following storms that moved through the area June 13. Dozen of trees fell at the park, and sources with the state Division of Parks and Recreation say some facilities were damaged, including the park office, museum and a camping cabin.

Morrow Mountain staff welcomed the help of a group of volunteers that helped clear some of the damage Saturday.

Park Superintendent Greg Schneider told WMTG, “We had ten volunteers, and, after a brief tour of some of the damaged areas, they were able to clear a quarter-mile of badly impacted trail along with park staff.”

Schneider said, “Everyone worked hard and safely, and we were certainly glad to have their assistance.”

The work was done on the Falls Trail. Morrow Mountain State Park remains closed until further notice.
