– The Fourth of July has come and gone, but many travelers will still be on the road through the weekend. AAA of the Carolinas say holiday driving is down slightly, but nearly 990,000 North Carolinians are expected to hit the road before the holiday period ends Sunday. The Highway Patrol and local law enforcement across the state are also continuing their “Booze It & Lose It” campaign through Sunday.
– The Town of Oakboro’s July Fourth festival continues through tomorrow night. The midway will open today and tomorrow at 6:00 p.m., the Sea Cruz band will play tonight at 8:00 p.m., and Too Much Sylvia will play tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. The Oakboro festival will conclude with a final fireworks display Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. The festival schedule is available in an article by clicking here.
– The Blue Mountain Bluegrass Band will play at the Mount Gilead Music Barn Saturday night at 7:30. The Music Barn will serve free barbecue and hot dogs from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. in celebration of Independence Day. Information at http://www.mgmusicbarn.com or 910-220-6426.
