The Town of Candor is in the final week of preparation for Saturday’s North Carolina Peach Festival. This will be the 17th year for the festival, which started in 1996 and is held annually on the third Saturday in July.
To kick off this year’s Peach Festival, the 3rd annual “Peachy Feet” 5K and fun run will be held Friday night, July 19. Then Saturday, the festival itself will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a parade through town, followed by crafts, entertainment, kids activities and, of course, plenty of peaches at Fitzgerald Park.
Organizers say they expect more than 6,000 participants, over 200 parade entries, and upwards of 85 craft and food vendors. Live entertainment will include the Sand Band and Blue Horizon, and there will be helicopter and pony rides, kids’ games, and truckloads of peaches from local farmers.
