Montgomery Health Department seeks to add full-time physician

130723_Montgomery_Health_Dept_genericThe Montgomery County Health Department hopes to expand its range of medical services by employing a full-time physician.

In a presentation to county commissioners last week, Health Director Mary Perez and County Manager Matthew Woodard introduced a proposal to staff the position through a temporary agency. Perez and Woodard offered details of the expected advantages and disadvantages of the plan, but said that “having the dependable presence of a primary care provider is fundamental to the continued operations of the Montgomery County Health Department.”

The plan will move to the county’s Consolidated Board of Health and Human Services for approval in August, with the goal of beginning full-time physician coverage effective October 1.
