The National Night Out is sponsored locally by Mount Gilead Concerned Citizens and Community Watch, and group president Johnny Greene put together a program that included informative and inspirational speakers from the community.

Sheriff Dempsey Owens and Lieutenant Jeff Branch spoke from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Cleve Willoughby and all the officers from the Mount Gilead Police Department were in attendance, and Town Manager Katrina Tatum was helped by a young lady from the audience as she offered statistics about the growth in National Night Out participation across the country.

Excerpts from speaker remarks will be included in WMTG’s on-air local updates Aug. 8 & 9.
