A Piedmont eye care practice has apparently closed some of its offices.
Under the direction of owner Dr. Danford Raynor, Academy Eye Center has operated from four offices in Biscoe, Albemarle, Thomasville and Randleman. The Courier-Tribune reports that the Biscoe and Randleman offices have been closed for about two weeks, and that the entire eye care practice has an “F” rating from the Central Carolina Better Business Bureau.
According to the paper, customers had begun complaining that products ordered and paid for were not being delivered.
The Albemarle office of Academy Eye Center told the Courier-Tribune that Dr. Raynor still works there, but the Thomasville location answered the phone with another name and said the doctor left the practice June 1.
The paper quotes unofficial sources as saying Danford Raynor “has been called before the N.C. Board of Optometry.”
Representatives of the Board of Optometry and the N.C. Department of Insurance said patients with complaints can contact their offices:
- N.C. Board of Optometry: 910-285-3160
- N.C. Dept.of Insurance: 919-807-6840, firstname.lastname@example.org
