The federal government shutdown is affecting an upcoming local event.
Organizers of the Uwharrie Mountain Festival have learned that access to the planned event location will be limited until federal funding is restored. The Kings Mountain Point recreation area on Badin Lake near Eldorado has been home to the festival for the past several years, but the federal spending shutdown has forced the festival to move most of this year’s activities to the Eldorado Outpost on Hwy. 109.
A kids play zone, music and other festival programming will go on as planned at the new location, with only the trail run remaining at the Kings Mountain Point site.
The festival is set for this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and more information is available at www.uwharriemountainfestival.com.
