FirstHealth of the Carolinas will host the fifth annual “Shine A Light on Lung Cancer” vigil one week from today.
A spokesperson for FirstHealth said the event is designed “to help raise awareness (of lung cancer risks), advance early detection and research, support patients and their loved ones, and work toward building governmental support” of work in the field.
FirstHealth says lung cancer claims more lives each year than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined, and that low-dose CT scans like those available at FirstHealth have been shown to save tens of thousands of lives each year.
The lung cancer vigil is set for Mon., Nov. 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Clara McLean House on the FirstHealth Moore Regional campus in Pinehurst. Information is available at 1-800-213-3284. Details on lung cancer screenings are available at 1-855-715-2258.
