This is the third time West has competed for the state title, having been defeated in 1975 and, most recently, losing to James Kenan High in 2007.

West’s victory over Swain County last Friday night sealed the Western Regional title for the team, and they bring a 14-1 overall season record to the championship game this weekend.

Kickoff for the state title contest is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at BB&T Field at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, and advance tickets are available from the West Montgomery High School office for $9 each. Tickets at the gate will be $10. More information is available at 910-439-6191.

John Inman will have full broadcast coverage of the game on WMTG, starting with an expanded pre-game coach’s show and analysis Saturday at 2 p.m.

WMTG can be heard at 88.1 FM in Mount Gilead, online at http://www.wmtg.org, and with the TuneIn mobile app for iPhone, Android and other devices.
