It’s Winter Weather Preparedness Week in North Carolina.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s official winter outlook offers no strong climate pattern to influence the upcoming winter season, and NOAA’s Mike Halpert says that makes long-range seasonal weather prediction a challenge.
But, regardless of the outlook, NOAA encourages everyone to become more familiar with the meanings of various winter weather watches and warnings and types of precipitation, so that forecasts and condition reports are less confusing in times of bad weather.
