The non-profit “Friends of Uwharrie” will host its first annual meeting this weekend.
The group was formed in late 2012, and its stated goal is “to encourage, protect and expand shared outdoor recreation access through charitable contributions of money, equipment and manpower provided by a coalition of business owners, land owners and outdoor recreation enthusiasts.”
Friends of Uwharrie says it represents the interests of those who enjoy all kinds of recreation in the Uwharrie area, including, but not limited to, hunting, fishing, boating, kayaking, gold panning, horseback riding, hiking, OHV riding and mountain biking. Organizers invite anyone interested in supporting their cause to come to the meeting Sat., Mar. 29, at 10 a.m. at the Eldorado Community Building on N.C. Hwy. 109 N.
