The Fork Horse Trials start Wednesday at The Fork Farm and Stables near Norwood.
Entrants from across the country and around the world are expected to compete this week in horse trials at what has been called “one of the most prestigious riding facilities in North America” (Ian Webster, Merritt Herald). Equestrian events will showcase horses and riders in dressage, cross-country and show jumping at CIC two- and three-star levels. Riders will range in age and experience, from young riders in the lower divisions to international medalists in the more challenging courses.
Organizers say, “This is a wonderful opportunity to see incredible athletes, human and animal, up close and in person.”
To open the event, riders will split into teams for a sporting clays competition. The shooting team scores will be added to riding scores to calculate the final results at the end of the day Sunday.
The events iare open to the public without charge. The Fork Farm is off N.C. Hwy. 731 just south of Norwood. Information is available at 704-474-4052 or http://www.forkstables.com.
