Fire damages Norwood business

Firefighters in Norwood spent some hours early Saturday battling a blaze at Edwards Flowers & Gifts.

The fire damaged much of the old Clontz house on S. Main St., built in 1902 and easily recognized by its distinctive multi-sided dormer.

No official report has been received, but photographs published online appear to show the majority of damage in the rear and middle of the house. Norwood’s municipal firefighters and volunteers with the Center Rural Department responded to the call.

There is no word yet about the future of the floral business operated in the house, which is owned by Mitchell Edwards of Edwards Funeral Home, though part of the business is in another building on the same property.
