Montgomery Animal Clinic will administer the vaccinations, Sat., May 10, on the west side of the county, and Sat., May 31, on the east side.

North Carolina state law requires pet owners to obtain ongoing rabies vaccinations for all dogs and cats three months of age or older. Veterinarians say the first vaccination is good for one year, and subsequent vaccinations are good for three years.

On May 10, the clinics will be offered at Uwharrie, Mount Gilead, Pekin and Troy. On May 31, they will be offered at Candor, Biscoe and Star. Dogs should be kept on leashes and cats should be in carriers when brought to the clinics.

Rabies shots will cost $7 each, and distemper and feline leukemia vaccinations will also be available.
