North Carolina primary elections are set for next Tue., May 6, and early voting continues through this Sat., May 3.
Locally, candidates are vying for their party’s nomination for Montgomery County Sheriff and Clerk of Superior Court, and there is some competition for state house and senate seats affecting the county. Click here for a complete list of candidates.
Early voting is available at the courthouse in Troy 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Friday, with a final session Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside voting is also available along the S. Main St. side of the courthouse. Questions about the process should be directed to the Montgomery County Board of Elections at 910-572-2024.
This weekend, WMTG will rebroadcast primary candidate remarks from two forums held over the past several weeks. Starting Sunday at 8 p.m., we will air the county candidates forum held Apr. 10 in Mount Gilead, which includes all of those running for Sheriff and Clerk of Superior Court. Following that, we will air remarks from the primary candidates for North Carolina State Senate, District 33, and the North Carolina House of Representatives, District 67, recorded Mar. 25 at an event in Star.
