The Star Branch Library will host activities this weekend for Star Heritage Day. The celebration is set for this Saturday morning, June 7, and will include a meet-and-greet with local authors Teresa Greene and Lez Bromfield, and a fossil dig for kids.
Teresa Greene lives near Candor and has written seven books, including four centered on the Sutton and McDonald families from Raleigh, and a trilogy about the Harris family from Richmond, Va. Greene says most of the stories take place during the Civil War, and she did research to make them as historically accurate as possible.
Lez Bromfield is a South African native who now lives in the Emerald Shores community on Lake Tillery. Bromfield has written true and humorous tales about his adjustment to life in the southern U.S. and his encounters with local characters.
The events are scheduled to take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the library, 222 S. Main St., Star. Information is available at 910-572-1311.
