School year nears end in Montgomery County

130806_School_Bus_Blue_Bird_CROPTime is drawing to a close on the current school year in Montgomery County. Final testing results are being tabulated ahead of promotions for next school year. Friday is the last day of school for students, and high school graduations will be Friday at West Montgomery and the Montgomery Learning Academy, then Saturday at East Montgomery.

As the vacation begins, many kids will enroll in summer camps and programs. Local activities include the Mount Gilead Park Program and the Highland Summer Enrichment Program, and many churches will offer week-long Vacation Bible Schools at various times over the next couple of months.

The Montgomery County Schools and Communities In Schools will have a summer camp starting in the latter half of July. Transportation to and from that camp will be provided at various locations throughout the county, and more information is available from any school office.

School cafeterias in Troy and Biscoe will host the children’s Summer Feeding Program from Jun. 23 to Aug. 7. Details are available at school offices, and a full schedule is available from the link below.
