Authorities say the fire that heavily damaged First Baptist Church in Biscoe this week was electrical in nature, but from an undetermined source.
The State Bureau of Investigation and the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms made the ruling following their investigation into the fire, which broke out early Tuesday morning in the southwest corner of the sanctuary, to the left of the front entrance. Fire, smoke and water damaged about half of the sanctuary.
Individuals and other churches are offering to help, and the church is hoping to have worship services this Sunday in its Fellowship Hall, which was mostly unaffected by the blaze.
On Mon., Jul. 21, the historic Jersey Baptist Church in Lexington, N.C. sustained minor damage when lightning struck its steeple.
