Authorities have recaptured a Richmond County man wanted on federal drug and weapons charges.
The Richmond County Daily Journal said 40-year-old John Adam Rillo was taken into custody Jul. 24 at about 2:30 p.m. He was said to have been found hiding along the edge of a pond just inside the southern Montgomery County line.
Rillo eluded law enforcement for 13 days after escaping from a Richmond County deputy sheriff on Jul. 11 near his home on Cemetery Road, south of Candor. Montgomery, Richmond and Moore County deputies, Troy and Candor police, the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the state Division of Adult Correction cooperated in searching for the fugitive.
John Adam Rillo is wanted on federal charges related to allegations he possessed ingredients and maintained a dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine and for possession of stolen firearms.
