Plans continue to take shape for the “National Night Out”, set for Tue., Aug. 5, in Mount Gilead.
This will be the 8th year for the local program, a collaborative effort of the Mount Gilead Concerned Citizens and Community Watch and local law enforcement to heighten crime prevention awareness and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
According to figures from the National Association of Town Watch, over 37.8 million people in more than 16,200 communities participated in the National Night Out last year.
The Mount Gilead Concerned Citizens and Community Watch are headed up by Johnny Greene, and the group encourages all area residents to join in this year’s National Night Out.
The event is set to start at 6 p.m. next Tuesday at the pavilion behind First United Methodist Church on Main St., Mount Gilead. More information is available from Town Hall at 910-439-5111.
