Mount Gilead area residents will observe the “National Night Out” this evening.
This is the eighth year for the local program, a collaborative effort of the Mount Gilead Concerned Citizens and Community Watch and local law enforcement to heighten crime prevention awareness and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
The National Association of Town Watch has coordinated the Night Out for 31 years, and more than 37 million people participated nationwide last year.
Johnny Greene presides over the Mount Gilead Concerned Citizens and Community Watch, and the group encourages all area residents to join in this year’s National Night Out. Food, music and guest speakers will begin at 6 p.m. this evening at the pavilion behind First United Methodist Church on Main St.
More information is available from Mount Gilead Town Hall at 910-439-5111.
