Here are some things coming up in the area…

— The American Red Cross blood drive will be in the county tomorrow. Collection hours are 1 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Star Municipal Building. Donors should bring a photo ID to the blood drive, and information is available at 910-975-0952.

— The Montgomery Youth Soccer Association is getting ready to kick off its fall season. Participation forms are being distributed through schools, and more information is available by phone at 910-439-0017.

— Armstrong Pool at Stanback Park in Mount Gilead will close for the season after this weekend. Details and hours are available from Town Hall at 910-439-5111.

— In Asheboro, a local community theater group will offer three performances of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” this weekend. The comedic play is presented by RSVP Community Theatre, and the free performances will start at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday in Bicentennial Park in Asheboro.

— Danny Pate and the Red Bluff Ramblers Bluegrass Band will be at the Mount Gilead Music Barn this weekend. Proprietor Ralph Thompson said the special Labor Day weekend show will begin with free food at 6 p.m. Saturday, and the band will start at 7:30 p.m.
