Cause of Rockingham fire not yet determined

An official cause has not been released in the five-alarm fire that damaged a Richmond County flea market Tue., Sep. 2.

140903_Fire_three-35891_640Firefighters from Rockingham, Ellerbe and Cordova responded to the blaze that heavily damaged the building at the Rockingham Farm & Flea Market on U.S. Hwy. 220. Crews battled the flames for about 90 minutes before bringing the fire under control around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Media reports say two firefighters were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.
