Election day is eight weeks from today, and a Montgomery County organization has arranged a meet-the-candidates program for two weeks from today. The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post in Biscoe will host the event Tue., Sep. 23, at 7 p.m. at the Star Town Hall.
Candidates will be given a set amount of time to speak on topics of their choice, and the program will be followed by a social hour, during which audience members may speak directly with candidates. The public is invited.
This November, voters will elect a number of local officials, including sheriff, clerk of court, some county commissioners and some board of education members. Other races include the U.S. Senate, and the North Carolina House and Senate, and a number of judges will be elected.
