According to the accident report filed by Officer James Lewellen, McBride was riding a VIP moped and ran off the left side of the road and wrecked.

The initial emergency call indicated a cardiac arrest, but an eyewitness on the scene when emergency workers arrived said it was apparent McBride had died and no resuscitation efforts were undertaken.

The police report says there were “no obvious signs of trauma” and no evidence to indicate any other vehicle was involved.

As of Tuesday morning, funeral arrangements were incomplete at Harris Funeral Home in Mount Gilead.
