Montgomery County’s Tree of Hope program has reached its goal to help children in need this Christmas.

The program had achieved only about three-fourths of its goal by early December, prompting a last-minute appeal for donations of cash and additional gifts. Communities in Schools Executive Director Lynn Epps said the response ensures that each child in this year’s Tree of Hope program will receive something at Christmas.

803 children are included in this year’s effort. According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the number represents more than 12% of all children in Montgomery County.
