The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority has announced the awarding of a $200,000 Building Reuse grant for an expansion at Grede Foundry in Biscoe.
Grede plans a $4.3 million expansion, adding about 20 new jobs with wages above the county average for manufacturing workers.
During Grede’s grant application process, Montgomery County Commissioners passed a resolution in support of the foundry expansion and approved $10,000 in local financial incentives for the project.
The Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) is part of the North Carolina Department of Commerce. Brady Dickson of Mount Gilead was named to the RIA board by Gov. Pat McCrory in Dec. 2013.
