Two people were arrested Jan. 22 in connection with the Jan. 20 robbery of Fidelity Bank in Troy.
45-year-old Anthony Leon Drake was apprehended in Rockingham and transported to Troy, where he was jailed under a $1,000,000 bond on the felony charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Drake was also charged with a probation violation related to a sentence handed down last month in a larceny case in Moore County.
Also arrested was 50-year-old Rudy Clegg Bruton of Blue St. in Troy. According to public records, Bruton is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and was also jailed under a $1,000,000 bond. Bruton was also charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Bruton’s alleged role in the robbery was not immediately clear, though law enforcement initially said they were searching a residence on Blue St. in connection with the crime. Only one suspect was reportedly seen at the bank.
Drake and Bruton face a first appearance Monday morning, Jan. 26, in Montgomery County criminal court.
